| The Young Citizens
Programme
The Young Citizens work-book project will involve primary school
teachers taking the 9 to 10 year old children through the history
of Birmingham from medieval times to the present, in order to imbue
in them a sense of pride in their city - and lay the foundations
for good citizenship. The teacher will give the children an appropriate
understanding of the City's involvement in free trade, scientific
and engineering development, manufacturing innovation, early ethnic
mixing and leadership in municipal services.
To produce this workbook, the Civic Society will seek sponsorship
to cover the costs of research, publication and the production of
materials to provide directly to participating children.
