Encouraged by the Lord Mayor, and despite the heavy rain, last week, children from Nelson Primary School planted ten field maple and wild cherry trees, in St Mark’s Park. This planting was funded jointly by the Woodland Trust, and a local Charitable Trust who asked BTfL to plant trees in inner city areas . St Mark’s park is right behind the Barclaycard Arena and next to a housing estate, and BTfL hope that these trees will help improve the air quality in the area as they mature.
