Anthony Collins, former Trustee and long-standing Birmingham Civic Society supporter, has written a short book referencing two hundred and fifty buildings built or tendered for, by his great grandfather’s Victorian building firm John Bowen &. Sons.
These buildings include our 1887 Victoria Law Courts, the 1903 Methodist Central Hall opposite the courts in Corporation Street, the 1905 Hollymoor Hospital at Northfield and the laying out o the Hall of Memory site in 1923.
Many of the buildings built by the firm will be known to those working in the city centre.
The book kindly sponsored by Wesleyan Assurance can be purchased via the website johnbowen.org or by emailing Anthony at email@example.com.
