Birmingham Civic Society – as one of the earliest and staunchest supporters of Permission to Smile – is pleased that the Local Government Association has recognised the Birmingham-based campaign.

The 850 two-metre banners put up around the city, including at 50 participating schools, are encouraging people to be friendlier to one another, and churches, community centres and others are coming forward to host Permission to Smile tea parties.
