Dear members,

We hope that you enjoy being part of Birmingham Civic Society and all that we do to make Birmingham a better place for everyone. We are going from strength-to-strength with the support and commitment you, our members, committee members and supporters bring. Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm! If you haven’t seen it yet, have a read of our 2018-2019 Annual Review to see what your membership subs contribute to.

Our mission for 2020 is to ensure that, as many of our fellow citizens as possible are aware of what we do and want to join in and make a difference in our city, so please keep it up and do get in touch if you have any ideas you think the Society can or should be supporting or involved in.
At our AGM earlier this month, we were delighted that our President, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, was able to join us to accept the Society’s Gold Medal awarded to Councillor Ray Hassall [1943-2017]. The medal was awarded to Ray ‘who gave to Birmingham in so many ways. Notably as one of the founders of Birmingham Trees for Life’ and will be displayed in the Lord Mayor’s parlour. Amelia Ladbrook, our Chairman, also presented Birmingham Civic Society Silver Medals to Anthony Collins and Glyn Pitchford ‘for services to the Society over two decades.’

We would like to thank two long serving Trustees who stood down this year – Past Chairman, Gavin Orton, and Deputy Chairman, Nick Venning, both of whom have played major roles in reshaping the Society.
